The Empowered Tenants project is actively engaging Regent Park tenants to increase access to their legal knowledge and access justice. Powered by Regent Park Neighborhood Association and the Department of Justice Canada, we want to hear from you to collectively identify and increase gaps in access to tenant rights for the Regent Park community. The outcomes of this townhall, workshops, and knowledge gathered will be shared in a report to the federal government to influence policy around stronger legal protections for tenants.
Our workshops for November are open for registration!
🏠 Tenants at Risk of Eviction Workshop
Saturday, November 8 | 1:00 – 3:00 PM | 585 Dundas Street East
As evictions rise across Toronto — and new laws like Bill 60 make it harder for tenants to stay housed — this workshop is urgent. Learn your rights, understand the eviction process, and connect with neighbours organizing to fight back. Together we’ll explore how to negotiate payment plans, respond to eviction notices, and take collective action to keep tenants safely housed in Regent Park and beyond. We will also explore strategies post-eviction and learn from tenants in precarious and unhoused settings.

🧭 Youth Navigating Housing Precarity Workshop
Wednesday, November 19 | 7:00 – 8:30 PM | Hybrid (Zoom + RPNA Office)
Young people in Regent Park and across Toronto are facing impossible housing choices — skyrocketing rents, unsafe units, and few protections. This workshop creates space for youth to talk openly about housing struggles, learn their legal rights, and organize for change. Participants will gain practical tools and join a citywide network pushing back against the housing crisis and displacement of working-class families.

👵🏽 Stronger Tenant Protections for Seniors Workshop
Saturday, November 29 | 1:00 – 3:00 PM | Location TBD (Regent Park)
With rent increases and renovictions threatening long-time residents, seniors are among those most at risk of losing their homes. This workshop offers a safe, inclusive space for seniors to share experiences, understand their rights under the Residential Tenancies Act, and learn how to challenge unfair evictions. Together, we’ll build strategies to ensure aging tenants can remain secure and respected in their communities.
