The Regent Park Neighbourhood Association is hiring for three Canada Summer Jobs positions to support community-building, outreach, and organizational capacity this summer.

These are exciting opportunities for youth interested in community development, communications, social justice, and strengthening resident-led initiatives in Regent Park and beyond.

Hours & Remuneration

Job Positions and Descriptions:

1) Youth Community Organizer

The Youth Community Organizer will support community engagement, outreach, and education efforts connected to the Tech Lending Library and the Regent Park Social Development Plan (SDP). Core responsibilities include:

1. Community Outreach & Engagement

    • Actively engage with local residents, tenants, schools, youth groups, and community organizations to raise awareness of the lending library’s services and benefits.
    • Promote access to technology and digital literacy resources by conducting door-to-door outreach, tabling at events, and connecting with hard-to-reach community members.
    • Encourage residents to join the SDP’s Working Groups and committees, supporting broader community involvement in local planning and decision-making.

2. Event Coordination & Program Support

    • Assist in organizing, hosting, and participating in community events, workshops, pop-ups, and information sessions related to digital literacy, tenant rights, and technology access.
    • Help set up event spaces, support participant facilitation, and gather attendance lists and evaluation forms.
    • Represent RPNA and the Empowering Tenants project at outreach events and community gatherings.

3. Resident Feedback & User Experience Improvement

    • Gather feedback, suggestions, and lived experiences from library users and community members to help improve services and ensure programming aligns with resident needs.
    • Report emerging community issues, concerns, or barriers to staff to inform program development and advocacy efforts.

4. Social Development Plan (SDP) Support

    • Attend SDP Stakeholders Table meetings and provide outreach to inform residents of upcoming sessions, agendas, and opportunities to contribute.
    • Promote the effective use of SDP communication tools, including the website www.regentparkna.ca/ and the Hello Neighbour mobile app.
    • Support ongoing communication between residents, working groups, and the SDP Steering Committee by sharing information, updates, and community insights.

5. Community Guidelines Promotion

    • Champion the Regent Park Social Development Plan Guidelines by modeling and promoting:
      • Welcoming and inclusive community interactions
      • Personal responsibility and mutual accountability
      • Constructive dialogue and conflict de-escalation
      • Collaboration and respect, even when disagreements arise
    • Support efforts that strengthen social cohesion, neighbour-to-neighbour connections, and a safe, respectful environment for all residents.

6. Communications, Outreach Materials & Digital Engagement

    • Assist with creating and distributing outreach materials (posters, flyers, social media posts).
    • Help keep residents informed by sharing updates on programs, events, workshops, and community opportunities.
    • Contribute content ideas to newsletters, community bulletins, and digital campaigns.

7. Documentation & Reporting

    • Track engagement activities, including outreach numbers, event participation, resident feedback, and volunteer involvement.
    • Prepare short summaries or notes from meetings and community conversations as required.
    • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational communication guidelines.

2) Youth Digital Marketing Coordinator

The Digital Marketing Coordinator will support the promotion, visibility, and online engagement of the RPNA, the Tech Lending Library, and the Empowering Tenants initiative. Core responsibilities include:

1. Content Creation & Digital Storytelling

    • Curate engaging, resident-centered content for social media platforms, including Instagram (@regentpark.rpna), Facebook, and the RPNA website (regentparkna.ca).
    • Produce compelling digital content—graphics, short videos, reels, infographics, and testimonials—using tools such as Canva, Google Workspace, and basic video editing software.
    • Highlight community events, tenant rights information, housing justice campaigns, tech lending opportunities, and SDP updates.

2. Social Media Campaign Development

    • Develop and execute targeted social media campaigns aligned with project goals, including:
    • raising awareness of the lending library
    • promoting tenant rights education
    • amplifying SDP community engagement
    • supporting digital safety and anti-violence programming
    • Maintain a dynamic, forward-looking social media calendar to ensure consistent posting and coordinated messaging.

3. Digital Engagement & Community Building

    • Actively foster an online community by interacting with residents, local entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders across all platforms.
    • Respond promptly to messages, comments, and inquiries, demonstrating professionalism and community care.
    • Support online outreach for events, workshops, community surveys, and resident engagement campaigns.

4. Analytics, Insights & Performance Tracking

    • Monitor social media analytics to measure engagement, reach, growth, and campaign effectiveness.
    • Compile weekly or monthly performance reports with insights and recommendations to strengthen digital strategy.
    • Identify content trends and opportunities to increase visibility and engagement.

5. Marketing Materials & Communications Support

    • Collaborate with staff and youth team members to create print and digital marketing materials, including posters, flyers, newsletters, and outreach packages.
    • Ensure all materials reflect RPNA’s branding, messaging, and accessibility guidelines.
    • Assist with website updates to keep the RPNA homepage, Empowering Tenants pages, and community news sections current and engaging.

6. Digital Literacy & Innovation

    • Use creativity and strong tech skills to support new digital initiatives that improve community access to information.
    • Stay up to date with emerging social media trends, digital tools, and best practices to enhance project visibility.
    • Apply a strong understanding of internet technologies, digital storytelling, and community-focused communications.

7. Collaboration & Organizational Support

    • Work closely with the Project Coordinator, Community Animators, and RPNA communication teams to ensure unified messaging and aligned outreach efforts.
    • Support content creation for community campaigns, petitions, event promotions, and tenant rights education.
    • Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and training opportunities as assigned.

8. Other Duties as Assigned

    • Assist with broader outreach, event support, and digital communication tasks that contribute to the project’s goals and community impact.

3) Youth Financial Administrator 

  • Assist with tracking project expenses, receipts, and invoices to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Enter financial data into spreadsheets and help maintain organized digital filing systems.
  • Support budget monitoring by recording expenditures and comparing them to approved budgets.
  • Help prepare simple financial summaries and reports for staff and project partners.
  • Assist with processing reimbursements, honoraria, and vendor payments as directed.
  • Maintain inventory records for equipment used in the Tech Lending Library and other project activities.
  • Provide administrative support for events, including collecting receipts and tracking petty cash.
  • Communicate with staff to ensure all required financial documents are submitted on time.
  • Follow confidentiality, privacy, and financial procedures at all times.
  • Perform other finance or administrative tasks as assigned.
